WWE 2K returns to Nintendo, now with a worthy release

WWE 2K25 arrives on Nintendo Switch 2 on July 23, 2025, marking the series’ return to Nintendo hardware after an extended absence. This edition is available exclusively as a digital download through the Nintendo eShop, with no physical cartridges being produced. Fans who pre-order will be charged up to seven days before launch, and the game will automatically download to their console at midnight on release day. Despite the lack of a physical edition, the eShop interface makes securing the game straightforward and accessible to every Switch 2 owner.

At launch, WWE 2K25 on Nintendo Switch 2 will offer three distinct digital editions designed to suit different levels of fandom. The Standard Edition includes the base game plus a Wyatt Sicks Pack for early adopters. The Deadman Edition builds on that with Undertaker cosmetic items, a functional urn object, the full DLC pass, and 15,000 virtual currency tokens. The premium Bloodline Edition bundles everything in Deadman alongside a Ringside Pass, the Rock Nation of Domination Pack, an additional 32,500 virtual currency tokens, and exclusive WrestleMania 41 content.

Downloading WWE 2K25 requires ample internal storage space or a suitable microSD card, so Switch 2 owners should free up room before release day or invest in additional memory. An internet connection is mandatory not only for the initial purchase but also for accessing online game modes and receiving future updates. The eShop’s automatic update feature ensures that the latest patches are applied without manual intervention, keeping the game optimized for both docked and handheld play.

In terms of visuals and performance, WWE 2K25 on Switch 2 surprises with its polish. Character models exhibit sharp detail, and lighting effects give arenas a vibrant atmosphere. Animations remain fluid with only minimal pop in, and portable frame rates consistently hover around 30 frames per second. When docked, the game seems to scale nicely to match big screen expectations, offering a wrestling experience that rivals the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S versions.

Feature parity is another highlight of this digital only release. All major modes, including the new semi-persistent open-world hub The Island, the cinematic 2K Showcase focused on The Bloodline, MyGM, MyFaction, MyRise, and Universe mode, are present and accounted for. The robust creation suite returns, and the roster boasts over 300 current Superstars, legends, and Hall of Famers. Unique match types such as Chain Wrestling, Bloodline Rules, Underground matches, and intergender bouts further ensure that the Switch 2 version feels just as complete as it should be.
