Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection brings a final lineup of classics

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and developer Digital Eclipse have officially revealed the complete lineup for Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection, confirming the final additions to what is shaping up to be one of the most comprehensive compilations in the franchise’s history. Alongside the previously announced classics, the collection will now include Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, two rare PlayStation era spin-offs that have been unavailable for decades. The announcement also unveiled the inclusion of the elusive WaveNet arcade edition of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, a version originally designed for Midway’s short-lived online matchmaking service in the 1990s and notable for being the only arcade release to feature Noob Saibot as a selectable character.

The full roster spans more than a decade of Mortal Kombat history, starting with the original Mortal Kombat from 1992 and running through Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition from 2003. In between, players will find Mortal Kombat II, Mortal Kombat 3, Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 in both standard and WaveNet forms, Mortal Kombat Trilogy, Mortal Kombat 4, the two PlayStation spin-offs, and handheld entries like Mortal Kombat Advance and Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance for Game Boy Advance. Each title has been faithfully emulated and optimized for modern platforms, with Mortal Kombat Trilogy in particular benefiting from drastically reduced load times for smoother play.

Beyond the games themselves, the Legacy Kollection introduces a suite of modern features designed to make the brutal action more accessible and engaging. A new Rewind function allows players to instantly retry moments, on-screen move lists keep special attacks at hand, and a dedicated Trainer mode helps refine combos. For series veterans and newcomers alike, a Fatality Trainer offers a safe space to master the franchise’s signature finishing moves without the pressure of live competition.

Mortal Kombat: Legacy Kollection is set to launch digitally in 2025 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2, with physical editions arriving on December 12 for select platforms. Bringing iconic arcade hits, console favorites, and long-lost curiosities, this collection celebrates over thirty years of Mortal Kombat and also preserves key pieces of its history for a new generation of kombatants.
