Another classic remake comes to Nintendo Switch

Forever Entertainment has officially confirmed that Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake is on its way to Nintendo Switch, marking the long-awaited return of one of Sega Saturn’s most celebrated rail shooters. Developed in collaboration with MegaPixel Studio and Storm Trident, this remake reimagines the 1996 classic with modern visuals, remastered audio, and refined controls, while staying true to the spirit of the original. The announcement was made ahead of its public debut at Tokyo Game Show 2025, where attendees will be able to play the game for the first time at the Rainy Frog booth. Although a release date has not yet been revealed, the title will launch at a price of $24.99.

Set twenty years before the events of the first Panzer Dragoon, the game follows Jean Jacque Lundi, a young rider who bonds with a mysterious dragon named Lagi. Together, they embark on a perilous journey through a world of ancient ruins, imperial forces, and strange creatures, uncovering secrets that shape the fate of their continent. The remake retains the series’ signature on rails shooter gameplay, combining Lundi’s firearm with Lagi’s devastating laser attacks. Players can also unleash the powerful Berserk Attack to turn the tide in challenging encounters.

One of the standout features of Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake is its dynamic dragon evolution system, where Lagi’s growth and abilities change based on the player’s combat style and performance. Levels feature branching routes, encouraging replayability and exploration, while the return of the beloved Pandora’s Box mode offers additional gameplay modifiers, mission variants, and unlockable content after completing the main campaign. It's basically a classic design with modern enhancements.

On Nintendo Switch, the remake promises to deliver the fast-paced, cinematic action of the original with the convenience of handheld and docked play. Players will be able to choose between classic and modern control schemes, catering to different preferences and playstyles. The soundtrack will include both the original score and a newly arranged version by composer Saori Kobayashi, allowing fans to experience the game’s atmospheric music in two distinct ways. Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake is gonna be a significant release for Switch owners who appreciate retro-inspired action.
