Play the way of the ninja, SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance out now on Nintendo Switch

After more than a decade away from the spotlight, SEGA’s legendary ninja returns. SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance is now available on Nintendo Switch. Developed by Lizardcube, the studio behind Streets of Rage 4 and Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap, this new side-scrolling action platformer reimagines the classic series with a hand drawn art style, fluid animation, and a modernized combat system. Players once again step into the sandals of Joe Musashi, leader of the Oboro clan, on a quest to avenge the destruction of his village and the petrification of his people at the hands of the malevolent Lord Ruse and the ENE Corporation.

The Nintendo Switch version is ready for a full experience in both handheld and docked modes, with responsive controls and crisp visuals that make every slash, dash, and kunai throw feel precise. The game blends fast paced swordplay with platforming challenges, encouraging players to chain combos, master ninjutsu techniques, and use special tools called Ningi to uncover hidden paths and secrets. Each stage is meticulously crafted, we have neon-lit laboratories and classics bamboo forests, offering a mix of combat arenas, environmental hazards, and collectible rewards.

For those eager to test their skills before committing, a free demo is available now on the Nintendo eShop. This trial lets players experience an enhanced version of the opening stage, complete with access to Musashi’s core move set, a taste of the game’s layered combat, and a glimpse at its striking visual design. It’s an ideal way for newcomers to get acquainted with the series’ rhythm and for veterans to feel the refined mechanics in action.

If you want to test the nostalgic roots and modern polish of the classic arcade, SHINOBI: Art of Vengeance on Nintendo Switch aims to satisfy fans while introducing a new generation to one of SEGA’s most iconic heroes. After so many years, the call to the way of the shinobi has never been more enticing.
